Felt PAC steel toe with claw lug soles – I bought these just in time for winter and was glad I did. Wore them a full winter before writing. These boots are warm and dry. They’re on the heavy and bulky side due to the pac, quality construction and steel toe but worth it if you need a safety toe and want to stay warm and dry. I got used to the weight after wearing them for a while. Not a care in the world while in snow or slush. I also climbed a few poles with them and they were pretty damn good there too. I believe there’s a single shank. Got them in 12” anticipating deep snow. I’m 6’ 4” and they go like half way up my calf. Thank you Hoffman for a reliable boot.

Almost great – I’m writing this review from the perspective of a slope worker, if you don’t know that means this review won’t matter much to you, we have specific needs. I gave these boots a 3 star rating, not because they aren’t warm or durable, they are in fact very warm and seem very well built, unfortunately the way the sole is made up it makes the boot difficult to wear up here. It’s hard to tell from the pictures on the site, but the heel is underslung ever so slightly, that makes them way less than ideal for a slope worker. We have to wear traction devices and the way the heel is shaped keeping them on your boots is basically impossible. As you walk the heel strap starts to slip and after a few steps they fall off. If you aren’t a slope worker this is totally irrelevant, buy the boots and enjoy, if you are a slope worker though, this makes for a frustrating day.
