There is a fine balance to making a lighter weight boot that still offers the quality features needed to perform in the outdoors. With the New Hoffman Scout, we believe we have done just that. The Scout weighs nearly ½ pound lighter than the 6” Explorer. With a more flexible dual density sole with PU inserts that provide enhanced stability, the Scout offers more flex while walking providing you with comfort without sacrificing stability. The Scout is the perfect boot for early season or anytime a less rigid boot is needed.

This is a first impressions review, so long-term use has not yet been assessed. First of all, quality of this Scout boot seems to be top-notch! There are no loose threads or excess glue. At the same time, the rand and sole are very thoroughly attached to the boot. The fit is fantastic, and they are easy to lace up to a snug fit. They fit me very well, and the break-in was borderline non-existent. After wearing them around town for just an afternoon, I noticed a definite comfort difference from when I first donned the boots. I purchased these for construction work, as I’m tired of replacing my boots every 6 months. I’m really hoping these will last significantly longer. First impressions are promising, but job site wear will determine longevity.
