Excellent Boot
I recently purchased a pair of 6" Explorer Light Hoffman hunting boots and have been putting them through their paces. The first time I wore the boots I went on a three mile hike and was amazed how comfortable these boots were right out of the box. This type of immediate comfort is important as I've learned from having fought wildland fire for 30 years and 40 years hunting in the mountains. These boots fit my feet snugly with no hot sports nor a feel of needing to be broke-in. The uppers are a single piece of leather with a comfortable tongue that folds easily against your ankle with no "bite." The Vibram soles have excellent grip and are stiff enough to allow you to dig in on a slope but not so stiff that you pinch your toes or heels. They have a protective rubber rand which seems extremely durable. They have a Sympatex waterproof liner but I haven't had the opportunity to try them in wet conditions yet. My guess just based on their construction that should be pretty water tight. As I mentioned, I have wore many different types of boots over the years and so far I'm extremely impressed with these Hoffman boots. I'd recommend you give them a try!
