Excellent Boot – I recently purchased a pair of 6″ Explorer Light Hoffman hunting boots and have been putting them through their paces. The first time I wore the boots I went on a three mile hike and was amazed how comfortable these boots were right out of the box. This type of immediate comfort is important as I’ve learned from having fought wildland fire for 30 years and 40 years hunting in the mountains. These boots fit my feet snugly with no hot sports nor a feel of needing to be broke-in. The uppers are a single piece of leather with a comfortable tongue that folds easily against your ankle with no “bite.” The Vibram soles have excellent grip and are stiff enough to allow you to dig in on a slope but not so stiff that you pinch your toes or heels. They have a protective rubber rand which seems extremely durable. They have a Sympatex waterproof liner but I haven’t had the opportunity to try them in wet conditions yet. My guess just based on their construction that should be pretty water tight. As I mentioned, I have wore many different types of boots over the years and so far I’m extremely impressed with these Hoffman boots. I’d recommend you give them a try!

Excellent Boots – Bought the boots back in April, now it’s July.  I waited to give a review to wear them some.  I’ve got probably 25 to 30 miles on them now.  I’ve worn White’s, Meindl, and many other boot’s over the years.  These boots are the best and most comfortable boot’s I’ve ever had on my feet. I would highly recommend these boots to any one that need’s a good hunting or hiking boot.  I will be buying the 8″ version very shortly.

My current pair is almost three years old. I’ve put a couple thousand miles on these in some of the steepest and roughest terrain in the northwest. I’m very impressed with how the leather and the rand has held up. The soles are pretty well shot and the inner liner is split in both heels, but these boots have served me very well. I’ve killed other brands of boots in less than two years. I’ve worn Lowa, Schnees, Crispi, and Zamberlan and these are by far my favorite of the bunch.

Really like these boots. I’ve had them almost two years now and they’ve become my favorites. They’re sturdy but comfortable. They do well in almost any conditions. Probably have close to 1000 miles on them and they’ve got a lot of life left.
